    Hey.
First of all Im new to these forums, and I will introduce myself properly after returning from my vacation.

Anyway, I have a little problem in sony vegas.
I can’t see any of the applied effects in the preview window, and I’ve been searching for a solution for several hours now, but without much results.
some say that it is because my “FX bypassed” is checked, but I can’t uncheck it.

here is a screenshot of my vegas:

Would be really nice with some help from you guys.

oh, I _CAN_ see the effects I have applied when I render, but I can’t see them in the preview window, and clicking on the “split screen” button doesnt work.

    thanks, Kristoffer

Don’t open the Split Screen menu at all. Just click the button to the left of the dropdown to turn it on and off. Like this:

    Hey John.
When I do what you tell me to do, turning it on and off, I get a new problem.
I can now view stock footage that I have dragged into vegas, but I can’t view stock footage with effects applied to them, which is kind of wierd.

I’m starting to wonder that the problem might is somewhere else.
Do you have any ideas of what it might be?

I’m not sure what you mean. Does the stock footage turn black when you add FX? What do you mean it “can’t be viewed”?

to piggy back on the last comment this has now happen to me. this is my situation:

i was editing on one screen then decided to extend the editing room with another monitor when i did that i moved the video preview box to the other screen. now when i went back to the trimmer preview there is nothing there. so if i apply an effect to my timeline i know its added but i cant see it until i render the video. how do i reverse this so i can see the effect on the screen on the clip that i am working on????
    help! please…

[cesa zuniga] “i was editing on one screen then decided to extend the editing room with another monitor when i did that i moved the video preview box to the other screen. now when i went back to the trimmer preview there is nothing there. “

Are you saying that the video preview doesn’t work on the other monitor? I’m confused by what the problem is. the trimmer doesn’t show FX. It shows raw footage. Only the view preview will show FX that have been applied.

BTW, you should probably start a new thread for a new problem so that more people see it.

You may have changed your pixel format frop 8-bit to 32-bit. Try going to project properties and change your pixel format to 8-bit. It is no huge difference in quality beleve it or not 🙂

This has confused so many .. it could be improved.

When you hover over that little button it says “Split Screen View” It should say “Effects View On/Off” ..

And the menu is also confusing .. FX ByPassed is checked .. but as the OP points out, you cannot uncheck it. That’s what the main icon button does, turns FX View on and off. Split screen view is nice, right, left and all .. but they don’t STAY checked as you would expect, but they dp stay active until you click the main icon again … something like that.

I’m not sure what use anyone might have for the Clipboard selection? I’ve never found a need for it.

As I say, it’s a confusing control. Could be improved.

You say no audio or image when you render? This is serious.

What’s the media? Which template. Usually this indicates bad media .. or lack of the right codec.
