I’d say it looks like some powerful hum (from a power source, or cable) in your picture, but I haven’t seen that for years. Then again I judge from a youtube file that’s heavily compressed and long GOP, so the original defect probably looks a bit different…

BTW video flicker and banding are two completely different defects, visually speaking.

If it makes you feel better, you are not the only one. The “Automatically place clips into a new sequence” would crash my version 6 of FCP every time I forgot to un-tick it. Haven’t tried it in 7 yet because I did not have the opportunity.

You have not stated what your storage is. Internal? external RAID?

It could be that your disks do not support the rate of ProRes HQ.

    Thanks for the answer,

I now see more clearly and your plan makes more sense (specially regarding what happened with audio).

    Glad Bouke’s solution helped too.

    Best of luck!

    Hi,

sorry if I can’t really help you with the QT file problem.

However, I am puzzled and interested to know why you chose such a workflow. I fail to see how cutting from a 90 min export QT to build a 60 min version would be simpler than duplicating your 90 minutes timeline and shortening/modifying it. Am I missing something?

I realize you are dealing with more pressing issues but would be interested to know once you’ve solved these.

± 1 frame between tracks will produce an echo, specially if you pan them l and r. But it should not be totally out as you say. What codec are you working with? Also, do your clips have same tc (as in synced tc during shoot, with reference?)

Without more info it is difficult to help more precisely…

    not even after a while?

I’ve seen this before, on a 6 seat fcp xsan setup. Would occasionaly take up to 10 minutes for the ofline clip to show as such in browser.

Not sure what it was, I’ll try to get more info.

just a thought: have you tried creating a new user account?

    then:

“DiskWarrior costs around 100 bucks, thats quite a lot for “trying”

I don’t think it would help with your problem (but could be wrong) but in any case DW is a software to have in any professional toolbox. It has saved me several times more than its cost me.

Also, have a look at digital rebelion’s software. Some is free and helps in running a clean fcp (Pref Manager) and they also have some fcp centric diagnostic software.

    hope this helps,

    Patrice
