I second Devrim. Do yourself a favour and invest in Producer’s Best Friend. It pas for itself on the first job. Hours of your life saved.

  • I would use Postlab for this

Hi, I am currently having problems with this new combo (FCPX 10.7 + Sonoma 14.2.1) on a MacStudio M2 Ultra and SNS EVO shared storage:

    • Library created on shared storage gets corrupted after closing it

    • Opening from backup works but backup creation is erratic (sometimes only one initial backup is created even if project/library has been altered by adding shots, events etc…)

    • Library created on local drive works but backup creation (local) is also not guaranteed

    • Whatever backup Library is created locally works (just pray there is one…)

Other than that FCPX is very responsive on this machine and no playback issues from shared storage

  • Hi, seems to me that Producer’s best Friend from intelligent assistance is what you’re looking for.

    hope this helps,

    P.

Hi, if you are still considering transfering your files, Swisstransfer will transfer 50GB for free. Alternatively you could use either Frame.io which has much more to offer than just speedy uploads and transfering or MASV.

    hope this helps

    Ah ha!

I have all Pro Formats installed and run 10.3.4 on Sierra yet can’t see XDCAM as an option…. why would that be ?

    Hi Jeremy,

creating a destination using a Compressor setting.

As far as I know it is not possible to create a master file that is an XDCAM 1080i 25 50Mbps in an MXF wrapper directly from FCPX. Only ProRes and AVC-Intra, but I’d be glad if you or anybody prove me wrong ????

    Hi,

I suspect you are delivering XDCAM, so as long as you do a mutitrack Quicktime export with the roles mapped according to the channel order you wish, and then rewrap to MXF you should be fine. We do this on a daily basis and it works.

    Hope this helps,

March 4, 2017 at 7:04 am in reply to: Audio routing issue

    Hi everyone,

had a further look at the issue today and here’s what I found:

    – Creating a new library with a new project and new clips does not change the situation
    – Turns out that not only FCPX is affected but all sound producing software
    – Suspecting a bad account I created a new admin account, to no avail
    – in the Audio Midi utility when clicking on the speakers (which usually produces a sound that helps in confirming your setup) I get ear-scratching noises but no clear sound)
    – apparently only line out and headphones out are affected, internal speaker ok
    – I did not have time to do a clean install on this mac but I am leaning towards a hardware issue but not entirely ruling out MacOS install
    – Unfortunately Apple Hardware Dignostic does not launch on this machine, wether locally or internet (D or Alt-D at Launch)

    What do you think?

    Hi,

the cables are proper and as for the cancellation issue my guess is that I would not experience it with only one channel open, yet as long as a clip is interpreted as Mono it does not matter how many tracks are open, it is muted on the output, not within FCPX (meters are showing levels).
