    Hi,

there is a way to achieve something similar using Annotation Transcriber. Check here :

    https://www.fcp.co/final-cut-pro/articles/1755-create-markers-notes-and-transcriptions-for-final-cut-pro-x-with-the-29-zeitanker-annotation-transcriber

    for more details.

    hope this helps

December 28, 2015 at 9:47 am in reply to: SXS UDF formated cards work … and don’t

    Hi again,

just reread Sony website about the US30 card reader and they specifically say it does not need the device driver. Which makes sense since I can perfectly well import 35Mb/s XDCAM HD material from SXS cards. Only difference is that those are not UDF formatted.

    Hi Gary,

I did not install the device driver as Sony specifies it is needed “when using the macbook pro” express card slot, which I am not. Also, nowhere in the Sony site does it say that with the Sony card reader you need to install the device driver…

Having said that, I suppose it does not hurt to try…

Not sure what you mean by “cleanUSB3” port for the reader. I have tried directly attaching as well as via a powered hub… same. Since my post I also clean installed a MacPro (8 cores, 64 GB Ram, dual 700), with same results. It is as if, on these machines, the sxs driver was not working, even though it is installed in the very same place as on the macbook pro…

I will install the device driver today and see if it changes anything, reporting back here. Thank you for your help.

I know, don’t we all ? But maybe there are more ways than one ? Clip roundtripping as per FCP7 is interesting but Timeline (or portions thereoff) roundtripping would interest me too. If they can make it work for AE (which I don’t use) maybe they can make it work for Motion ?

Also, I am quite happy that AD is coming back as I think that we need to have some competition to X2Pro audio. I like the product but it makes me nervous that there is no alternative. Or maybe Apple should, in the end, offer AAF export ?

    Hi Phil,

actually Automatic Duck is about to make a comeback.

They just sent beta testers 2 new versions of their products.

both read fcpxml and whilst the media copy does just that – read a project’s xml and copies the used media to another location – ADXimport will translate a project’s xml into an After effects project.

There is no date announced for the products but I hope they will be available soon, as well perhaps as other products.

    hope this helps a bit

If you have more than a few titles I suggest you look at Andreas Khiel’s products at Spherico.de

Alternatively, you can also try Annotation Edit from Zeitanker.

  • Hi,

I tend to do the CC after cutting the piece, thus avoiding CCing takes that I don’t use.

FCPX makes it very easy to open each multiclip and CC each angle.

And since you can go back and forth between the cut and the multiclip with shortcuts it sort of compensates for the absence of a multiple screen display in the UI (à la FCP…7)to match your shots.

    just my 2 cents
