Exactly what I was looking for.

Because your favorites folder in the Effects tab will always be emptied when trashing prefs (or upgrading) (yes it is un the manual), You could create an Effect’s Project that will contain just those.
Drag your favorites Folder into the browser of that project and save it.
And back it up somewhere else.
And DO get Pref Manager as said before.

DVCProHD codec on a single drive? Top of my head, this codec’s data rate goes up to 100 Mb/s…
Maybe with an empty drive, maybe… but I doubt it would work with a drive half full. On an internal raid made of striped disks has a better chance.

What was feeding the mixer? Your mac’s audio out or were you monitoring through a fw connection to a tape deck?
