Reading all this I am tempted to suggest you move to another codec. I know it is not ideal and it may degrade the picture somewhat, but I’d be curious to know what you get if you export to DVCPro HD from the ProRes and then import this into your Avid. Will you still get the banding?

Automatically? I don’t think so.

But you could lay a 12 frame clip on your timeline, copy paste that 200 times, and then replce edit the content of the clips.

I imagine that you still want to determine the in of each clip so I don’t see how any automatic function, if there was one, would truely help you, but maybe I misunderstand the question.

Note. If the order of filters is important (and it always is) then you’ll have to force the filters in the bin into the appropriate order by renaming them; i usually give each filter a numerical prefix (01_Color Corrector, 02_RGB Limit, etc). This way when you drop the bin onto a clip, the filters are applied in the right order.

There is a better, or “less clunky” way to do that:

1) select the clip that has your filters in the timeline or have the playhead on it

2) make sure autoselect is on for the track the clip is on

3) Make favorite (option-F)

4) This creates a sub folder in the favorites folder. it contains your filters, in the right order

To apply this stack, just drag the folder over the clips you want to affect

WARNING: do not double click on the folder just created because it would rearrange the filters in the alphabetical order!

Set your RT as Unlimited, Dynamic (quality), Dynamic (frame rate), and make sure Multiclip playback is selected too.

We use Chronosync to do just that. We regularly back up our projects folders and some of our media folders on external drives other than raid array. It works.

Instead of using a picture that you’d need to overlay to check your titles, you could use DH_Guides which are free and another great product from Digital Heaven

You will get to where you want to be with FCP, but it won’t be as smooth a road as it is with Avid.

Asymetric trimming in FCP is not implemented well and a pain to use. Basic trims work well but sometimes end with surprises because of FCP’s tendency to keep everything in sync.

Locking tracks temporarily will help too, just for when you trim, until you’re done.

Ah, and I use the BB shortcut (blade All) much more on FCP than I would Add Edit All on Avid.

As Shawn suggests, you have to unlearn some of that Avid stuff, or at least put it on hold.

Hi,

with fcp’s default Multicam keyboard, just pressing the num pad keys switches your angles, CMD + num pad key cuts your angles. Option + num pad will switch your audio. I am not sure that there is a way to select V only or AV with just the keyboard…
