Achieving a professional quality VO in such conditions is difficult but not impossible.

Friend of mine is using the sound devices preamp https://www.sounddevices.com/products/usbpre2.htm and, of course, a lip mike. No matter how noisy your environment the lip mike will work where all other mikes will give up.

December 15, 2010 at 6:15 pm in reply to: export still frames based on sequence markers

Sorry, my bad. This won’t work.

What does work is if you mark your sequence clips with markers, drag those clips in a bin and make sublips from the markers. You can then export the stills.

But it is not, unfortunately, the easy automated way you were looking for…

    again, apologies fr misleading you.

    Should work if:

    1) you put your sequence in a bin

    2) turn markers into subclips (if you have v.7)

    3) export the subclips as stills

    hope this helps

November 27, 2010 at 8:14 am in reply to: Quality of ripped DVD file

    1) DVD footage is not a broadcasting format or destined to be edited

    2) iTunes… are you monitoring this on a proper broadcast monitor or just on your computer?

    3) What are you tryng to achieve? Best workflow to preserve whatever quality is there will depend on this too.

What are your drives? How many streams are you trying to play? What are your RT settings?

Without more info it is hard to help.

    1) If picture quality is important to you, get one of the rushes transcoded properly, i.e using dedicated hardware like an Alchemist (S&W). Shoud be the one that is not in the standard that will be aired

    2) Sounds like a good technical book covering standards could be a good item on the christmas gifts list 😉

HQ on a single FW 800 drive is pushing the limit IMHO…

November 11, 2010 at 6:36 am in reply to: Command-J

And there is an easier way if you are still on 6:

    1) Match Frame your in point

    2) apply speed change to master clip in viewer

    3) Replace edit

    4) Change speed back to 100% in Viewer for later use of Master Clip at normal speed

voilà, no ripple in version 6

and if you do a source match frame (cmd – opt – F) instead of a match frame, you don’t have to change the speed back as your master clip is unaffected.

    Hope this helps

November 10, 2010 at 7:40 pm in reply to: effects questions

    1) Filters are always rendered before the Motion Tab parameters. Nest your rotated clip and apply filter to nest

    2) The order of your layers is the order of your tracks. Upper track = upper picture.

These are pretty basic questions. Maybe a bit of manual reading (or the excellent Peachpit books) is warranted.

    hope this helps,

    Patrice

How about using reverse match frame?
