    Hmm.. That’s insanely fast.

If the R3D files are spanned into dozens of files, might that slow it down?

Nice one, Dan. That certainly helped. Still got a few folders that takes ages to import.

Look at the image attached. That gives you the picture of the folder structure. Even unfolding subfolders take quite some time in the Browser.

I’ve got the Eclipse too. It works very well with Resolve. Wouldn’t be without it. There’s a lot of button combinations and features. You can do anything just from the control surface.

After I switched from using the Wacom tablet to the Eclipse, I’ve only used the mouse for small tasks like drawing shapes, adjusting curves, and setting up the project. All the rest is more or less covered with all the buttons and knobs.

The transport keys work well too. Wanna jump from clip 5 to 200? 2-0-0-ENTER. Boom!

I’m not experiencing crashes with it, but interlaced material makes my whole system bog down.. If that’s not the problem, the codec may be.

The XDCAM codec has a similar effect on my system.

  • I honestly don’t understand this incredible race. FCP X has been hyped, maybe too much. It’s a totally new, rewritten tool. Things WILL take time. Even though we are used to all these tools for so many years, did you seriously expect it all to be there from day one?

I think we all have been spoiled.

YES! Apple made a mistake by naming it “Pro” as of the time being, but then again – look at the innovative tools. I think this is going in a positive direction. And as time goes by, Apple will add new features and tools.

Think of it as a sandbox. You get the most common tools now. Play around with them. They’re all new, and you need to start from scratch again. Export to XML must come, of course. It’s one of the most used languages for moving things in and out of other apps. No “Pro” app would be without it. But it takes time.

Wanna switch? Go ahead. I’m not stopping you, but I believe it’s foolish to jump the gun and say “Apple, you’re dead to me” just because of this tiny (yet big..) release. You still have FCP7. What’s there with Adobe you can’t do in FCP in one way or another?

I’m no editor, so I really don’t know, nor need to know what Adobe can do… I’m pretty happy with FCP, no matter what anyone tells me.

If you’re on a Wacom, you should be able to make one of the buttons become either a toggle or a “push to.. talk?” for precision mode.

Would you mind mentioning any? I’ve only got Compressor handy. But I have access to a Mac with Episode if that would do any difference ?
