CX Eclipse ?
Posted by Roland Manuel on June 23, 2011 at 1:38 amOk, I was hoping to upgrade to FCPX and the new Color but best laid plans of mice and men! I will now be using FCP7, buy resolve and then migrate to Avid. but I have an Eclipse, which is of course more expensive than than pretty well a whole new suite. How does it play with Resolve, has anyone out there got one and is using it?

June 23, 2011 at 2:30 amHi
I have the JL Cooper MCS SPectrum/3000 combo which was the predecessor to the Eclipse.
It’s a fine control surface for the money, not up to the feel of a CP200 or the functionality of the DaVinci panel. But it gets the job done fine. The key mapping is pretty extensive for Resolve, but obviously there are limitations given the quantities of knobs and buttons available on the panel.
Mine works via ethernet not usb.

June 23, 2011 at 7:13 amI’ve got the Eclipse too. It works very well with Resolve. Wouldn’t be without it. There’s a lot of button combinations and features. You can do anything just from the control surface.
After I switched from using the Wacom tablet to the Eclipse, I’ve only used the mouse for small tasks like drawing shapes, adjusting curves, and setting up the project. All the rest is more or less covered with all the buttons and knobs.
The transport keys work well too. Wanna jump from clip 5 to 200? 2-0-0-ENTER. Boom!

June 23, 2011 at 8:41 amYeah once I bought the Eclipse I understood what you could do with Color, the panel just makes the universe a better place. Thanks for for confirmation that it is actually works well with Resolve, I know that JL Cooper had said the panel was compatible but that doesn’t always mean that the thing will work sensibly.
