I tried a layered photoshop file with four layers. Bottom layer solid white and turned off. Second layer plain text and turned off. Third layer plain text with layer styles added and turned off. Fourth layer is merge of layer three and is the only visible layer. The file would not import eventually requiring a force quit after hanging on an “evaluating media” message.
After removing the layer with the layer styles the file imported and worked as expected. I can work with this since it is akin to what I used to do (same as Mark) with a flattened file with an alpha channel. However it is not necessary to create an alpha channel, just to have a file with no layer styles in any layers.
It’s not ideal but it’s not the end of the world for me since I never liked using layered PSD files. I have submitted feedback anyway.
I like having output through my Kona card! That seems to be working nicely so far. Some have mentioned a delay when hitting the space bar to play but I have seen that on FCP7 as well.
I have not yet tried importing any previous version project files. That should prove ineresting.

You could use a background generator and crop and position to your requirements.

[Shane Trowbridge] “When I finished my day I dropped them all into a folder.”
Not sure what you mean by this. Can you explain the procedure you followed?

January 14, 2012 at 10:10 pm in reply to: TKY Color Wheels (Free FCPX Effect) – Beta VersionNice job Simon. I really like this a lot. Would there be a way of turning the color wheels on/off and also turning the effect on/off (for A/B comparison) in the viewer? Then everything could be done right in the viewer other than keyframing. Thanks for another great upgrade to FCPX!

I have an HVX-200. Media is set to tape and camera is set to VCR. When I attach it to my computer via FW and select import from camera the capture window opens up and shows the HVX in the devices window on the left and it is ready to go. I’m not sure what is going on with your system. Try trashing preferences with Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion.

If you have P2 cards can you get them to mount?

December 22, 2011 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Events and Projects Librarys Missing in FCPX (but folders and videos in finder exist)Need more info on your setup. If you had a “solution” where re-booting several times caused the missing files to show up it sounds more like a hard drive issue. Have you run disk first aid, repaired permissions, deleted preferences etc.? Based on my experience with FCP X what you are describing sounds like something other than an FCP problem.
