Speaking from experience and as tedious as it is, you would spend less time capturing your video in rough individual clips rather than capturing an hour or so at a shot. FWIW

I have always found the free program Audacity does the best job whenever I’ve needed noise reduction. I could never get decent results out of STP. You could try the De-Noiser in FCP X. I was able to completely get rid of hiss when I had to crank some low level audio. Never tried it on AC though.

Sounds like you have the skimmer on and it’s playing from the where the skimmer is. Skimmer takes precedence over the playhead. Just turn it off “S” or move the mouse pointer away from the timeline. Or place the skimmer at the point you want to start playback and hit the spacebar.
I tried adding markers to some music and it was consistently on the beat. I was just hitting the “M” key as it played back. How were you doing it?

“Reveal in Finder” works that way throughout the operating system. It is not specific to FCP X or any other program. It is following the path to the file step by step. If the file is in the event it goes directly to it. If it is not it goes to the first step (the event) which then shows the alias to the file. Right click on the alias and hit “show original” to see the original file, “open” to open in the default program for that file type or “open with” to choose a program to open it with. You can also do a “quicklook” which I find very handy in a lot of instances.

I just sent this to Apple:
I made a simple PSD file with three layers of plain black text. I turned off all layers expect the first layer of text. That imported and looked like it should. I went back into Photoshop, scaled that layer down to 65% and saved it. The file in FCP X updated and all was well. Then I went back into Photoshop and changed the position of the text. No matter what I did this change would not show up in FCP X. I then deleted the file from the event and tried to re-import it. Nothing happened. I also tried to re-link it and nothing happened. I then made a copy of the file in the finder (opt drag) and was able to import the copy. The changes I had made showed up. I went back to the original file still open in Photoshop, made another change and saved it with a different name. I was able to import this file into FCP X and the changes showed up properly. It looks like FCP X is not recognizing changes to PSD files like it should.

Make sure you are installing the RAM correctly. I was having trouble with added RAM and discovered that I had not followed the instructions to the “t”. Is this a Mac Pro? Check OWC’s site for installation instructions.

Use Font Book to validate all fonts. Also 10.0.3 appears to have fixed this problem from my brief testing so far.

Place the cursor between two letters. Kerning should then be available. It’s working on my system with 10.0.2

This crashes my system. Not sure why. Did you make in newer version of Motion? Thanks -
X does not like flattened psd files with alpha channels. This was true in previous versions. Make a text layer and add effects with layer styles. Merge that into a blank layer to rasterize the text/effects. Turn off any remaining layers. Save and import. Should work fine with all transparency correct.
