Does it work with the AjA not connected ?

You say you updated the drivers for the Aja but what about the firmware that another poster mentioned ?

    No

You do get a few plays on new machines but due to region codes the computer will ask you to choose PAL or NTSC after that it is restricted.

However a lot of standalone DVD players will play both NTSC and PAL disks and do a conversion so you can watch NTSC on a PAL TV set.

The best thing is to do a conversion.

Nice to see the Beeb catching up with us LOL !

Not good news for Post houses though i would have thought if the Beeb are pulling 75% of its work back in house.

You always need to delete the transition before moving a clip and it only takes a second.

‘option double click will open more than one viewer window. very kool.’

Indeed it is however i have never been able to edit from this second viewer into the timeline from the keyboard (it always puts the clip from the main source viewer into the timeline) it only works if you drag and drop unless some one knows how to do it from the keyboard, anyone ?

    ghetto
What your trying to do is not realy editing as we editors know it !

If Casablanca does what you need then use that, the quality will be ‘good enough’ for what your trying todo i suspect.

That said in FCP select the roll tool (looks like an 8 ) click on the edit type in -30 (this trims the edit 30 frames back) right click on mouse which gives a mini menu and select add dissolve job done.

I reckon it would take you less than 5 seconds to do each edit.

It is all about return on capital invested, if you have made a fortune with this camera you wont have a problem replacing it with a ‘P3’ or whatever in the future.

I would go with the hvx it has a decent codec in DVCPRO100 so all other things being equal it will produce the best results.

The difference between all the cameras will be the least of your problems in the making of this film so do not get too hung up about it, if you can wait until they are all released you will get better feedback from early users.
