Most likely it’s the 3D filtering/ oversampling that cannot be avoided. Just in case: You might wanna check if you use depth of field (DOF). turning it off might improve things a bit (though not eliminate the problem entirely).

Though there’s now a graph editor, temporal and spatial interpolation are still separate (unlike in 3D apps, where they are normally locked together). AE’s keyframe behaviors haven’t changed. This means you still have to adjust them individually (temporal in the graph editor, spatial in the comp viewer).

You could try and hack the prefs file manually. look for this section:

    “Pref_PURGE_EVERY_N_FRAMES” = 0000

Can’t you just temporarily disable your large disks and run the installer under a different hardware profile? This should effectively avoidthe long scanning procedures. Don’t know why it won’t install into certain directories on your system. The only bug I’m aware of regarding this issue was Mac related (and has been resolved).

  • Nope. Or to make it even clearer: No way in Hell to open newer version’s files in older versions of AE. Sorry, but it’s always been this way.

Just duplicate your footage and use the unchanged layer as a matte on the work layer.

Use the masked layer as a matte layer on top of your normal footage.
