Well, actually you are just giving up to easily. Have you ever considered that our type of work may involve some hard manual operations or even require some inspiration? Sorry to say so, but looking for a magic button and then saying it can’t be done because said button doesn’t exist is just not very sensible on your part.

For starters, it’s easy to create the motions using Particular. Sure, it only support one custom particle at a time, but where is it written that this custom particle can’t be a comp with multiple lines of text spread in time, thus usable with one of the “Split Clip methods? Or even more easy: Who’s stopping you from using multiple instances.

Similarly your second problem presents itself as being none when you move beyond your thinking of “it all needs to happen on one layer”. The reveals are simply multiple instances of an identical layer, each with it’s own unique matte and set of effects. By animating e.g. a drop shadow, you can easily create the illusion of something forming out of multiple parts – when the shadow fgoes away, everybody perceives an image as one coherent are and does not see any more parts, though technically the may still be there.

As I said, don’t give up that quickly, it’s easier than you think.

Duplicate the entire layer and use it as a mtte on another duplicate. you can move them around wherever you like this way.

From what I’ve heard Jenna still works in R10, but I think only in part. If I recall correctly the iterator is somehow hosed and the shader has a few problems.

You can pin points of splines to objects using XPresso (link the world position of your reference Null to the World position of a point node). Another way is to use MoGraph’s Tracer object. If You have MOCCA, Clothilde might also work.

Apply a mask, then pre-compose. Do your key on the pre-composed setup. I suggest you also watch Aharon’s tutorial for creating super tight junk mattes here at the COW.

You can’t get rid of those seams at all. AE applies the filtering uniformly (as a layer in AE equals a textured infinite plane) without special algorithms for edges or transparent areas. I suggest you use some slight cropping/ feathering. You can easily fix up “holes” by using effects such as MiniMax or Find Edges on your pre-composed 3D table. I know it’s not perfect, but with some fiddling can be made to look good enough. If it’s an option, you should of course consider some 3D-ish plugins such as for instance Digital Anarchy’s 3DLayer – draping a cloth on your table with it would possibly make a good visual distraction.

Don’t know the clip, but most likely it’s multiple passes blended and morphed to give the illusion of the clothes changing. May also contain 3D parts to fix up certain areas or is even completely done with 3D-modeled clothes overlayed over some shots.

No, not really. Masks have no way of relating to each other, so they never know where which vertex is or even how many of them form a contiguous shape. I’m afraid you’ll have to take the bitter pill and match them manually. If you findsome nice guy like Dan, they may be able to create a script for you that takes away some of the pain, but even then you’ll still have to do some manual cleanup.

[doka15] “You would think this would be easy in C4D but it’s not.”

If you’re used to it, it is ;O). For more control you should look into getting one of those spline deformation tools. MoGraph has one, DiTools contains two of them and there is also another one from Renato (https://www.tarabella.it/c4dbeta/index.php).

Apart from reasons stated by Chris already, there is no ultimate necessity to go Mac just to get those cool processors and their power. At the moment there’s a big transitional phase, but similarly powerful multi-core chips for PC will become available soon. So I wouldn’t rush things without knowing where the train goes.
