hey all, i hae a nice dell that im working on and I love it. My question is this, are there advantages to switching to the new mac intel based cpus or should I stick to what I love. if I get a core duo 2 pc vs the mac with the same specs, will one be faster then the other. just a thought,

No. AE won’t be updated for Intel for quite a while according to Adobe. That’s why I still use AE on a G5 while using the MacPro for other apps that have been updated. I’d stick with the PC for now.

Apart from reasons stated by Chris already, there is no ultimate necessity to go Mac just to get those cool processors and their power. At the moment there’s a big transitional phase, but similarly powerful multi-core chips for PC will become available soon. So I wouldn’t rush things without knowing where the train goes.

    Buy a Mac Pro workstation
Load windows 64/or XP Pro until Binary AE comes out
    Then get Binary AE.

Maybe even swap out the woodcrest Xeon for the new quad cores that are rumored to fit in it….
