Well, actually you are just giving up to easily. Have you ever considered that our type of work may involve some hard manual operations or even require some inspiration? Sorry to say so, but looking for a magic button and then saying it can’t be done because said button doesn’t exist is just not very sensible on your part.

For starters, it’s easy to create the motions using Particular. Sure, it only support one custom particle at a time, but where is it written that this custom particle can’t be a comp with multiple lines of text spread in time, thus usable with one of the “Split Clip methods? Or even more easy: Who’s stopping you from using multiple instances.

Similarly your second problem presents itself as being none when you move beyond your thinking of “it all needs to happen on one layer”. The reveals are simply multiple instances of an identical layer, each with it’s own unique matte and set of effects. By animating e.g. a drop shadow, you can easily create the illusion of something forming out of multiple parts – when the shadow fgoes away, everybody perceives an image as one coherent are and does not see any more parts, though technically the may still be there.

As I said, don’t give up that quickly, it’s easier than you think.

Particular can easily do that. I don’t see anything there that can’t be done by it. The movement would be just tweaking the emitter and particle settings. I don’t know what you mean by it can only do one particle. It can do as many custom particles as you want. Just create a precomp and put a different image on every frame and tell Particular to grab a random frame from that precomp for each particle emitted. Looks very standard. Also it looks like an AE light was shined onto the cluster of words because you see where there is a white beam through the middle of them. As far as the face, it looks like a standard mask to bring in the sides and a luma matte to reveal the words in the bright parts of the face. If you notice, the words only appear where the cheeks go white and where the teeth are.

This is all pretty standard stuff.

ive been looking and looking for that magic button for quite some time now, and can’t find it. even tried the secret menu. nothing there 🙂 thanks for the great responses. ive never used particular in depth anyway, im fairly new to it and only have gotten as far as peders tutorials. sounds like some 101 stuff. good to know

so far everything pretty smooth, looking to see how i can make it “cooler”. only using one set of words right now for each cluster. need to figure out the random start in a composition particle. sounds exactly what im looking for . thanks
