I was never able to get the Tascam to work with the Aja Kona LH. Even when I could get it to temprarily work, most of the functionality wouldn’t work. Both Tascam and AJA are aware of this.
I had to switch to the Mackie MCU, which works fine.

Gary’s right, but I find the biggest problem to be the weight limit. Many International carriers have a 14lb. weight limit for carryons going in the overhead. I had problems several times at Heathrow and other places as well with this limit. I discovered American seems to be more forgiving in this area. A case with a laptop and accessories can easily weigh 14lb without a camera… so find out what airlines you’re taking (all of them) and check their weight limits…

Where does it say it doesn’t work with Intel Macs?
FWIW, it works fine with my Intel MacBook Pro. Yes, I did download the “pcdriver_macintel.zip” file and install it on the MBP.

[Unclejunebug] “I am importing all my HVX P2 footage and I’m having problems importing the spanned clips. Complete clips that are not spanned have no issue. When using the Import > Panasonic P2 function in FCP, I drag and drop a spanned clip (with both sections) in the import window. A red exclamation mark comes up and nothing happens. A little while after that if I roll over the exclamation mark a small window appears that says “No Data.””
First, are all of your P2 files on a single hard drive? Second, are all of the groups present in the P2 Import window before you try an import them into FCP? P2 Import needs them all together so it can assemble the spanned ones into a single clip prior to importing them into FCP.
I discovered this when I shot 160 minutes non-stop while hot-swapping P2 cards. In FCP, it needed them all in at once in order to properly assemble the spanned clips. Otherwise, I encountered what you had. Once I brought in each folder worth one at a time, before selecting them all and importing, the result was a single clip that was 160 minutes long.

No problems here.”
I had the Tascam, but discovered it was problematic with the Io and the Kona LH. Both AJA and Tascam are aware of it. So, we had to go the Mackie route to use MIDI instead.

Have you confirmed that it can work directly with MXF files? There seems to be a lot of conflicting info there…
