will that work for transitions i use that are from filters? like i will use BCC Levels with a 10 frame 0 to 100 to 0 blow out effect on the layer above my cut. Would this work if i dragged it onto a transition point?

May 12, 2007 at 5:37 pm in reply to: AVID MOJO SDI

i just got SDI mojo. I love it! I hated the earlier mojo because i could only do component and when i used the firewire to get 1:1 from XD Deck it was not as clean as i thought it would be. SDI mojo is a great upgrade!

but yea, the mojo allows In/Out Composite, Component, S-Video, and SDI. I have my SDI hooked up to my Digital S deck and my Component hooked up to my Beta Deck.

You have to make a choice when inputting or outputting everything but SDI. Because the component, s-video, and composite all use the same cables. You can use all three RGB connectors for component, Blue only for composite, or Blue and Green (or red.. i forget) with a supplied connector that feeds to an s-video connector.

I imagine taht if you set your output digital cut to RGB component you could record to a deck at the same time with the SDI hooked to another deck. I think the SDI alwayws outputs a signal no matter what. So in theory you could do both at the same time, but you would be doing a slam edit on the SDI while the component can have accurate timecode.

The only pitfall to the SDI Mojo is that it only has 1 SDI output cable. Therefore you cannot output SDI at the same time as monitoring SDI on your tv monitor. Only way you can do that is if your tv monitor has an SDI loop through. Otherwise you have to monitor Composite while outputting SDI. Or you could just keep moving the SDI cable from your monitor to your deck when it is time to output.

My tv monitor has an SDI loop through which solved this problem. I took the SDI out cable from Mojo and ran to my tv monitor input and then the output SDI on the monitor to my deck.

    hope this helps.
