Compressing video at too high of a bitrate can be counter productive. Try Windows Media Video 9 at 1.5 mbps, full resolution (720×480) 30 fps, 2 pass VBR constrained.
5 minutes should be about 50 MB. -

HD has already ushered in a new breed of accellerator cards like Deck link and others to deal with the quantum leap in bitrate, although the CineForm Pro plug-in and the FX1 might be the flavor of the future for most, like 1394/DV is for SD now.

I think if you will search past posts you will find this issue with Matrox and solution…something about applying an effect to the title with no value change, like blur.

That is correct.The Matrox card should not cuase other effects to play less smooth than without it, but it is possible…
More and more folks are pulling their Matrox and Canopus cards out in favor of software only.

Try adding “Deinterlace” filter as a Pre-encoding task in the Mpeg 2 DVD encoder settings.

Suspect that your external drive is formatted as FAT32 which would limit a DV file to 18 minutes (4 gb). Format it as NTSF.

Keyframes are added automatically with any value change (with Toggle Animation turned on). I dont think there is a short cut to add a “same value” keyframe without using the Add Keyframe button.Maybe dont understand your question about joining clips….just butt them together?

Unlike Photoshop, you will need to drag Pro’s imterface accross to the other monitor first, then you can drag palettes and windows across.
