thin, horizontal banding appears across solid color areas
I am importing tiff sequences into Premiere Pro from After Effects 6.5. The sequences are animations created in Poser and brought into AE and composited. From Premiere, I plan to export to Encore for DVD.
There are solid areas of color in the animations that look fine in AE and also look fine as exported tiff sequences (solid, rich color). My project in Premiere Pro is PAL. When I bring the tiff sequences into Premiere Pro and look at them on the timeline, they still look fine, BUT when I render them on the timeline, thin, horizontal banding appears across all the solid color areas (actually, it appears everywhere, but it is not really noticeable except in the solid color areas).
I thought it might be merely a Premiere timeline display issue, but when I export the timeline as an avi PAL movie, the banding is very noticeable. BUT if I export from the AE timeline as a PAL movie (and from there, go into Encore), there is no banding.
In a nutshell, all along my pipeline, the images look fine until I render them on the Premiere Pro timeline and then banding appears and won’t go away. How can I avoid this? (short of compiling everything in AE, since AE is very difficult to use as an NLE.)
Thanks.
