    1. Open Compressor

    2. Click the “Add File” button in the upper left, or just drag you file into the project

    3. In the settings tab, click in the quick search field and type “ntsc” then drag the DV NTSC preset onto your file above.

    4. Click the destinations tab and pick somewhere to export the file to by dragging it onto the word “source” next to your file. You can also create a new destination by clicking the “+” symbol in the upper right.

    5. Click submit.

Could be a field dominance issue, have you checked the sequence settings against your footage?

Get the video back, export them from something like Quicktime, Compressor, ect. in the DV/NTSC codec.

They should have no problem viewing this codec on a PC.

Can’t go wrong with a machine like that, going to run you 10 grand or more.

The processors themselves are faster, but I don’t think FCP is multi-threaded yet. You might not benefit from the dozen cores.

If you use Maya or some other 3D software, that’s where you’ll see the biggest speed boost.

    Thanks Jason,

I haven’t tried your solution yet, but I did notice that the guy you we’re talking to said he was “scrubbing the timeline” when the transfer stopped.

If I let the transfer go without clicking on any clips in the browser of viewer then it comes in fine. Once I start clicking on things in FCP is when I run into problems.

I’d be interested to see if you’re fix solves that problem.

    thanks again

  • You can’t, sorry.

Should I convert to outlines, then use an envelope?

Is there an accurate way to do this?

After a little more messing around, the problem seems to be specific to the animation codec. My DVCPRO HD (960×720) doesn’t seem to have any gamma shift problems.

    weird.
