I’ve read a number of posts on this subject but I’m unable to find the answer.

I’ve got a quicktime (animation codec) that looks correct in Quicktime, but when imported into after effects looks dark.

I’ve tried every combination of color/working spaces, to no avail.

When I bring it into my home computer with the exact same version of AE, no problems. The issue is only on this one workstation, and trashing the preferences doesn’t help.

    Any ideas?

The video looks correct in Quicktime, I’m confused.

These seem to be solutions for video that appears correct in the AE comp, but incorrect in QT.

    I’m experiencing the opposite.

Could this be a snow leopard issue? Everything else between my systems is the same.

I have both QT 10 & 7 installed. I’m using 7 to view the video.

It really seems like an AE issue rather than quicktime. The video looks fine in everything but After Effects (QT, Final Cut, ect.).

    Should I re-install AE?

After a little more messing around, the problem seems to be specific to the animation codec. My DVCPRO HD (960×720) doesn’t seem to have any gamma shift problems.

    weird.

Animation is a pretty outdated codec and was never very useful for real life footage. I’d rather use something more contemporary.
