What is your client using?
The best way would be to transfer the
original .mxf files if they could read them.
We usually provide PhotoJpeg’s from the
original DVCPRO files.
You might have to play around with gamma
if they are on PC.
Or have them try to edit in FCP somewhere.Mike Schrengohst

Use Cinema Tools to conform 1080i footage to 23.98.

Hd will sharper than DV. Follow the HVX workflow to am SD DVD and then compare the DVX footage to that. The HVX will be sharper. You can always soften the HVX footage.

I have both cameras. Don’t use the DVX anymore, (e-bay??)
Overall you will get best results with HVX.
I had the first DVX and never shot 16:9
but did shoot a lot of 24p. The DVX100B
has a 16:9 mode but you are limited to
DV with the DVX.Once you work with DVCPRO HD even if it
is for an SD project you will see a
difference in post.I am urging people to consider the long-run and
not just the next project. Check out some

You are right the easy set-ups are 1080 60i and 50i,
For 1080 24p
Start a new sequence then click sequence settings/load sequence preset
and you will see DVCPRO HD 108024p
then the 1080 24pA clips you do a reverse telcine on
play in this sequence without rendering.Mike Schrengohst

because it does not. I check it for anything
except pN fooage
I have been on the Apple boards but
they have no anwers.
I have tested both ways but the Cinema Tools
reverse telecine is still needed.
I also have Edius and you can bring in
1080 24pA footage directly.
But Edius is rather lame when it
comes to color correction.
The good thing about Edius is the fact
you can view .mxf files and an info box
shows you what the file specs are.
Now Apple needs to do this without
having to buy another piece of software. -
With FCP 5.1.1
Shoot 1080 24pA
Start a new sequence and you will
find a 1080 24p template.
Import footage from P2
Check the box remove duplicate frames/pulldown
Then once your file is imported
click it and go to tools –
Cinema Tools reverse telecine.
You now have a 1080 24p clip ready for editing.Mike Schrengohst
