Cannot do timelapse in 24pn
Set your camera to video mode.
Shoot in 30p either 720 or 1080,
I usually opt for 1080 since most timelapses
would never fill a P2 card.
There is a trick to slow your shutter down,

Did you shoot 24pN at 60fps??
Or did you shoot 720 60p??
Try opening a 720 24p sequence.
The frame rate converter will
only convert footage shot 720 60p. -
My full ones always sjow 3.54 gigs.
So I guess it saves that .46 gigs for the
other info?? -
I think Jan from Panasonic said the .txt file was
the info needed if a clip spanned two P2 cards.
Otherwise you should not need it.
You can edit the clips together
manually. -

Most shooters will not use auto-focus.
I guess thats good for the dog races but
for most productions we never use Auto-focus,
I might hit the AF button but that is it.
The HVX-200 is like a Ferrari compared to
the PD100 – Neon. It takes awhile to get
a feel for HD in general, no matter what

If you are importing with P2, first check the box for remove pulldown.
I do it now because it is there, but it actually takes another step.
Then with the clip highlighted use the Reverse Telecine Cinema tools option in FCP, no need to open CT. Then take your clip and make sure you are in a 1080 42p sequence.
Do some testing to make sure you get it down. Plus try to get the camera people to give you specific notes on shooting. I receive footage shot in all frame rates and have to play detective sometimes.Mike Schrengohst

I have been looking at hundreds of clips, most shot with the HVX.
We have some VariCam footage and some HDV footage. It’s the shooter
who makes all the difference. But by and large the image coming out
of the HVX is awesome. It’s hard to describe. Of course people are only
sending me there best footage. You can shoot charts all you want but
when you see footage from around the world shot with the same camera
in all different conditions that look pleasing and very editable…..
I wish I could say I am seeing awesome footage from HDV, we just have
not had as many shooters sending in footage from HDV. We have plenty
signed up but I am still waiting, seems the HVX’s love to use their cameras!Mike Schrengohst

Yes, and with FCP it is just as easy to edit 720 24pN material as 480i,
the DVCPRO 50 mode is good if you know you are going to intermix it with BetaSP material for example. If the slate is clean then think HD for the future. You might want to re-encode your timeline for delivery on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray next year. If you shot DVCPRO 50 you would not be able to do this.Mike Schrengohst

It depends a little on the future life of your show. Do you plan on using the footage for something else as well? What kind of editing system do you have.
Shooting 720 24pN will give you the most bang for your buck.
1080 24pA (the mode you should shoot in if going to DVD) offers a touch more resolution at the sake of run time on the P2 cards.
Editing 720 24pN with FCP is very easy and the results going to SD DVD are impressive. I would recommend doing a test in both modes to figure out your best workflow.Mike Schrengohst
