any info: cinema tools reverse telecine option
Hi everybody,
I’m working on editing a HVX200 movie shot at 1080i 60 24pa. Using the most current Final Cut Pro. It seems that the remove pulldown box in the import window doesn’t work because the clips are still at 29.97fps. So does anybody know if the ‘Cinema tools reverse telecine’ option under ‘Tools’ in Final Cut Pro works well? I’m wondering if going to the program Cinema Tools would be better for any reason. Like more choices since the final cut pro option is just the click of a button with no specifications. I don’t know if that’s necessary. Although I’ve done a good bit of editing with Final Cut, I’ve never worked with 24p or cinema tools before so any info at all would be a great help.

If you are importing with P2, first check the box for remove pulldown.
I do it now because it is there, but it actually takes another step.
Then with the clip highlighted use the Reverse Telecine Cinema tools option in FCP, no need to open CT. Then take your clip and make sure you are in a 1080 42p sequence.
Do some testing to make sure you get it down. Plus try to get the camera people to give you specific notes on shooting. I receive footage shot in all frame rates and have to play detective sometimes.Mike Schrengohst
