  • Anyone here with an HVX and a DVX? Need some help.

I don’t have access to an HVX-200, but I’m considering purchasing one if a bid goes through. I’m bidding on a project and intend to buy the HVX for that project, but my client wants to see the difference between the HVX-200 in HD 24P and the DVX-100 in 16:9 miniDV 24P on the same or similar footage.

I know it’s a lot to ask, but if anyone here happens to be shooting and wouldn’t mind uploading a few seconds from each camera to me (via ftp), I’d be an extremely happy fellow shooter. I’m really hoping to see a big difference, and I’m sure there is a big difference. If I can sell them on HD, then I can afford to make the jump.

    Thanks in advance,
    Gary

That’s kind of a lot to ask from a stranger but any dealer should be able to help you out- for example in L.A. and NYC AbelCine can probably get you setup with some demo footage. Also there’s a ton of HVX footage on the internet. Here for example:

As far as the difference between the DVX and the HVX- it’s kind of obvious just looking at the specs. If the client is not aware of why HD it superior to SD it’s going to be a tough sell any way you slice it.

I have both cameras. Don’t use the DVX anymore, (e-bay??)

Overall you will get best results with HVX.
I had the first DVX and never shot 16:9
but did shoot a lot of 24p. The DVX100B
has a 16:9 mode but you are limited to
    DV with the DVX.

Once you work with DVCPRO HD even if it
is for an SD project you will see a
    difference in post.

I am urging people to consider the long-run and
not just the next project. Check out some
of our clips. You can download a free clip
(more will be added in future)
Most of the video on the site was shot with HVX.

Thanks for the links. That definitely helps. I will check with a reseller for some footage also, but more links or any other real-world footage would still be nice. I know it’s a lot to ask, but it can’t hurt to ask, none the less.

    Thanks again,
    Gary

    Thanks,
