When you bring up the render window, it asks you where you want to save it to.
If you’re like me, you create a new folder for each project and then create new folders in the master folder for items such as veg files, captured video, music, graphics, rendered files, etc.
You only rendered out a portion of the master file so that’s all that you should have. The veg file remains the same. i.e. when you open it again, everything will still be there.
Just remember that, the next time you render, the “render loop region only” box will still be checked so disable it if you want to render the entire project.

Either highlight the selected area or put markers at the beginning and end of it and double click to highlight it.
When you go to render, make sure you click the box that says “Render loop region only” and you’re all set.

If my video is under 70 min., I usually use a CBR of 8,000.
Anything over and I reach for my bitrate calculator.
In your case (1 hr. 41 min.), I get a CBR of 5,700 or VBR (Min., Avg., Max.) values of 3,400, 5,700, 9,600. I stick to a Max of 8,000 so I substitute this for the 9,600 value.

I’ve been wearing glasses for over 40 years and progressive lenses for at least 10 years. They really weren’t an issue with CRTs (don’t know why but they weren’t). When I switched to LCDs (pair of 17″) though, I found that I had to increase the default print size. As I recall, this was a setting on my graphics card (text to medium instead of small or something like that).
We also just got new LCDs (again, 17″) as part of an office computer upgrade and I did the same thing to it.
My eyes just aren’t what they used to be 🙂
Peter’s suggestion about changing screen resolution is also a good one.

Just to confirm, you are using Vegas (6.0d) and not Vegas Movie Studio, right?
To enable Capture, either go File – Capture Video or click on the camera icon (Capture Video) in the Project Media Tab.
This brings up a screen titled “Capture Video – Please select a video capture method:”
Make sure you select the “Use external video capture application”.
Click OK. This brings up 2 “Sony Video Capture” windows. They refer to capture settings. Set them as desired. I create a “captured files” folder in the project that this is for.
Now the window should say “Sony Video Capture 6.0 Default*”.
This window has 3 tabs: Capture; Advanced Capture; Print to Tape and 7 menu choices: File; View; Transport; Video; Audio; Options; Help.
Click on Options – Preferences. You should see 6 tabs here: General; Disk Management; Capture; Advanced Capture; Print to Tape; Preview.
In the General tab, deselect the first one (Enable DV Device Control).
That should be it.

Just a thought here but when you click the Event FX icon, does the window that opens up say “Filter Packages” (on the left side menu)? If so, select the one that says “FX”.

You need to do this in the VidCap prefs (options – prefs – general), not the Vegas prefs.

Since this is a digital still camera, odds are that you need an MJPEG codec.
Main Concept has one for $19 and Morgan Multimedia has one for $20.
