Al, your responses here and in the other forum you posted this to are somewhat confusing.
First of all, very few set top DVD recorders will allow you to hook up a firewire cable from your computer and record to them.I know that Premier has no problem doing this.
Doing what? Printing to yuor set top DVD recorder or viewing on an external monitor?Finally , you originally said:

In all my years of using Vegas, I’ve never had an image get I>all screwed up by feeding it to an external monitor. I come out of the computer to either a Canopus ADVC 100 or a JVC SR-VS30U miniDV/SVHS deck and then to the monitor. It’s always worked great. -
Instead of chroma keying, there’s a compositing technique that you can try.
Look at the Two Cats From One tutorial for an explanation of this technique. -
Click on the Track FX icon in the track header or the Video Output FX icon above the preview window. Select the Sony Timecode option and position accordingly.

No, Vegas still doesn’t have a spell checker 🙁
I sometimes do the same thing as you (compose in Word) but then save it out as a plain text file. That allows me to decide what font, size, etc. I want and not have Vegas get confused. -
Leslie, I agree with you on this as well. Edward has saved me from pulling out what little hair I have left more times than I can remember. He’s truly a valued member of the Vegas community.
BTW, I’ll be in his area this weekend visiting family and would be glad to take Edward & his family out to dinner at a fancy restaurant or take them shopping along Chicago’s Golden Mile (Sak’s, Gucci, Nieman Marcus, etc.) and send you the bill :-O

Start – Programs – Accessories – System Tools – Character Map shows you all the characters, symbols and their shorcuts for any font on your system.
I use this all the time when trying to find a specific symbol. -
Is the latest version of Quicktime installed on your machine?
Make sure to select the “Quicktime 7.1.3 for Windows 200/XP” (seond option) and NOT the one that includes iTunes unless you want that as well. -
Use Track Motion to shrink everything down the desired amount.
Be advised that you will probably see a border.
My workaround for this is to add a new track and make it the same colour as the background of the PPT slides. Hopefully they didn’t use a fancy background of any kind or you’ll have to improvise 🙁
