Inserting symbols (e.g. copyright) in Generated Text

Holding down the ALT key and keying using the number pad on the right of the keyboard…release the ALT key after typing the numbers:

BTY most fonts have these characters but some do not. Just have to try them with whatever font you are using to see.

Start – Programs – Accessories – System Tools – Character Map shows you all the characters, symbols and their shorcuts for any font on your system.
I use this all the time when trying to find a specific symbol.

I had not thought about the right-hand numberpad, was using the numbers on top.
By the way, if you happen to know, how would one do the same for Corel Draw? (It does not seem to work the same way.)

Don’t know about Corel Draw but it works the same way in PhotoShop Elements and also Paint Shop Pro which Corel purchased.

If Corel Draw works the same you need to have a text box open.

John, I just tried this in Corel Draw 9 and it worked exactly the same way. I held the Alt key, typed 0169 and the

It was not working for me because (my ignorance!) I needed to hit the “NumLock” button, before it would work with the number keypad.
It works as described now, (without the need for a box.)

The numbers lock is one thing I forgot to mention. Glad you figured it out. And by the way, I also use CorelDraw 9. I do all my layouts for printing DVDs with it.

Since you use Corel, maybe you know this: It appears that, for filling-in a drawn object with fountain fill,your choices are linear, radial, conical or square. I recall a decade or more ago using an Apple program (“Draw”??) which, after you drew an odd shape (say an amoeba) you could fill it in such a way that the effect would conform to its edge. Say, if the edges were dark, and brightening toward the midle, then all edges of the amoeba would be equally dark, and the brightness would depend on the distance from the nearest edge. I don’t see Corel having that feature. Am I wrong?

John, I’m not sure. I mainly use Corel with photos and text overlays. I really don’t do much graphic design as far as fountain fills etc. But I would imagine it is very possible to do what you need if you can just find out how. Corel is pretty powerful and should be able to do most anything Draw could do. I would think so anyway.
