ok great i am going to give that Audio Lock Mode a try. But for now everything seems to be working perfect using FCP 6.
I Guess there could be something going on with our version of 5.1.4 they are both on the same system but just partioned on different drives, so we are essentially using the same computer

We are using the
Sony Z1 camera
HVR-M10 Sony Deck
Digitizing Via Firewire
Down convert on the deck while digitizing, set to DV/Squeeze
Same shooter, same deck, it might be a different camera we have 3 Z1’s not sure which one was used on the time everything worked.FCP 5.1.4
QT 7.4.1
MacPro Dual-Core Intel Xeon
5 Gbs ramNew developments are we tried to digitize using our FCP 6 Station and things seem to be working there for the time being.

I think they best way to convert this footage is using the Nattres Conversion converter, which is 100.00 from http://www.nattress.com. They work in FCP and you would use the G Film converter.

Hey Stephen
Hope i am not to late but i ran across your post when searching for a way to solve this same problem. here is a post i found that helped me

Basically every clip needs a REEL #, my projects use lots of imported QT’s that do not have REEL #’s associated with them but once i gave them all REEL #’s MM knocked it down from 50gbs to 2.3gbs. Boy did that ever save my day!!!

We have had similar problems, and our IT dept usually just empties the Cache for compressor and then it works fine, try that.

Hey Harvey,
Well if your workload starts to get too high and you need to do batch encoding Episode is great(just get Epsiode and add the FLV option instead of buying the PRO Version) My company has been using it for just about a year now, Also our site is hosted by Brightcove.
If you need any help or pointer with the brighcove system please feel free to contact me, I spents month working our our FLV presets and working with the brightcove console to find the best ways to work with in there system.

December 7, 2007 at 6:15 pm in reply to: Capturing issues: Out of Sync & Phantom TC BreaksYes i too thought it might have to do with a full disk, Our Xsan is always close to being 80-90% full but then i also captured to an external drive that had a couple hundred gbs available and i still had sync problems.
But i do believe some of the problems such as Phantom TC breaks has to do with full drives.
Our next solution involves renting a Panasonic deck for a few days and see if we get any problems digitizing with that

December 6, 2007 at 9:11 pm in reply to: Capturing issues: Out of Sync & Phantom TC BreaksHey Ben,
Yes we also have this “validating audio” problem with our HDV deck.
FYI, if you press cancel while it is “validating” the clip will be captured in-sync. You just have to import it from your finder as it will say it is offline

I have been having wrist problems for the last year of so and have been thinking about also switching to the Intuos but it has been a little to expensive for me. I did notice the new BAMBOO version, has anyone tried this yet? I am mainly using FCP and sometimes Photoshop & AE, thanks.
