This is a new problem for us. We can no longer export out of FCP into Compressor. While in FCP 6.0.2 we go to File > Export > Using Compressor and it activates Compressor but it no longer dumps the Sequence into Compressor.

Then export a Reference Quicktime movie of your Sequence.

    Bring that into Compressor.

This is actually the only way I work with Compressor as this is a faster way to encode. Compressor runs slower when FCP is also running in the background so I never use “Send to Compressor” within FCP.

Overall Compressor is just not working for me. I am unable to set up a New Batch. When I select New Batch in the File Menu it does not respond. When I try to open Compressor on it’s own it will only goes as far as the start-up box with the icon.

I’m wondering if this is my system and I need to re-install Final Cut Studio 2 or is it because of the OS (10.4.11)

We have three systems all running Studio 2, latest updates and Compressor is not an issue here. Really don’t know what to suggest. I simply launch Compressor, drag the quicktime files in, drag the Settings on the clips and hit Submit and walk away.

We have had similar problems, and our IT dept usually just empties the Cache for compressor and then it works fine, try that.

Thanks, I found this article as well. I’m re-installing Compressor right now.

Make SURE you install and update Motion as well.

I followed Apple’s instructions on re-installing Compressor and I am still experiencing the same problems.

I am unable to open Compressor – all I receive is the first screen with the Icon and program name (it never progresses further). If I try to open it via FCP I am unable to call up the Batch Window. So I can not drag files to the window, since there is no window.

I’m wondering if I should re-install the whole Studio?

    Any ideas are welcome.

    Thanx – J

Did you run the software update after the install?

Immediately after, then restarted the machine.
