This doesn’t really need a tutorial unless your camera is moving.

If the camera is sitting still, just grab some images of bushes, large leaves, branches etc.; cut them out in Photoshop; bring them into AE; use some large size settings in Turbulent Displace effect (and/or some of the other effects in the Distort section) and a blur effect; and you’re done.

Are you accidentally set to the ray-traced renderer?
If so, switch to the classic renderer or, if you’re using 3d depth, use the Cinema 4D renderer (which is multithreaded for rendering the 3d geometry, by the way) and it should go much faster.

Update CC 2017 to version 14.0.1 and then, once a preview is cached, it should play back real time again. The update fixed the problem that’s been happening for some folks since CC 2015 first released.

As I said in your thread on the Adobe forums, AMD processors aren’t officially supported in versions of After Effects after 13.7.1. However, this might be an issue with your antivirus, antimalware, or firewall.

You could render the video out of AE into an intermediate codec and then do your sound design fully in Premiere. That’s how a lot of people work.
