If you’re just using the classic renderer or the C4D renderer, the GPU doesn’t play much of a role in rendering the image at any resolution. All the GPU is doing at that point (unless you’re using GPU-accelerated effects) is just serving that image up to the monitor. I couldn’t imagine that being the issue. That being said, go into Preferences>Display and turn off the option to use the hardware to accelerate panels, etc. and see if it makes a difference.

What effects are you using in your scene?

When you say outline only, do you really mean just a line and no fill inside it?
Do you plan to have the camera move at all during each shot?
What kind of interactions are you hoping to do?

What is the exact version number of AE that you are running? They just released an update yesterday that should fix this issue.

Any chance we can see an example of the shot?
My normal workflow for this sort of thing is to create a logo-free object in Photoshop from the closest/clearest frame and then use Mocha to track that clean piece back into the full shot.

  • In both cases, you are seeing issues with aliasing and anti-aliasing.
For the first one, if you don’t want to see one behind the other, why not hide it entirely?
For the second one, I’d suggest adding a .5-1px blur.

If you’re looking to key your image, there are a few ways. I’ve made three example attempts here with Color Range, Keylight, and copies of the obsolete Color Key effect. So, turn one example off in the layer stack, turn another on, and take a peek. 10806_legokeying.aep.zip

  • Alternatively, you can just make one comp in After Effects and do all of your text changes in Premiere Pro! The newest CC 2017 release have some nice enhancements to the workflow that allows you to change text in an AE project (including with animation and effects) from within Premiere Pro.

  • What OS do you have?
    What GPU do you have?
What driver version for that GPU do you have?

You can do some neat stuff with AE’s text animators. This helix-ish shape is just AE text animators on a text layer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqIRrn7EtyQ

November 16, 2016 at 4:07 pm in reply to: Animating Horizontal text to Vertical

    I have a cheat!
Make your text on a path. Make the path horizontal. Animate the path going vertical. Use the text animators in AE to animate the text’s rotation to keep the letters upright. (Rotate per letter, not per word, of course.) You may also need to animate the tracking to get the letters separated as it moves to vertical.

Heck, you don’t even need the text to be on a path, you could just animate the text layer’s rotation with the text character rotation. I was just thinking of some fun, subtle animation tweaks you could do with the path to make it feel more dynamic as it transitioned.
