  • Create a video out of AE and make the GIF in Photoshop. It makes a much better-looking GIF at smaller file sizes.

That being said, they should consider using a video on the page instead of a GIF. It’ll be a much better-looking product (likely at a smaller size too).

I was going to suggest using the layer’s index as a way to multiply the offset, but your idea is much easier!

Definitely something to do on set rather than in post. It’s going to look much, much better and it’s going to be a lot more fun to do.

Without seeing more of the shot, it’s hard to offer advice. That screenshot looks like it’s going to be very difficult, but that’s only because I’m imagining what the movement might be. It might be easier than it looks at first.

You could try removing the pads on one frame in Photoshop and then tracking the resulting pad-free butt into your scene and matching the noise (you may also need to warp the shape somewhat, but that, again, is dependent on how the movement occurs).

  • I would suggest, if you’re happy with your NLE’s, just to hang tight for a bit. The CC 2017 release of AE has a bug fix coming soon that may fix some issues (depending on what sort of playback problems you are having). And the AE team is still working on rendering improvements.

So I would wait for the next update to see how it fairs first.

I would recommend against saving over it. It probably won’t cause an issue, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. I mean, I usually use the increment and save feature more than necessary too! I figure it’s just better to increment the file name after any big changes and I’d do the same in this instance.
