I think this raises more questions than answers, but it seems like just shooting 25P and going a 25 to 24P would be the smartest thing to do, DV filmmakers did that for years before a true 24P came out and then is this conversion built into FCP.
The thing to do is to fine out exactly what this hack is doing, it may actually for going to the P2 card as true 24P. In the end there many not be a huge problem, just a lot of craziness.
The last question would be why not just use the NTSC HVX to record both the sound and the picture?

I think this feature alone is worth $130. Funny thing it automatically saw and added my external array to the backup list. After I launched the array and came back a couple hours later time machine was telling me there was not enough room on my BU drive. Deselected the array and time machine finished with my system drive.
The speed that I seemed to be getting was 1GB/3mins. This is with going from internal to internal drive in my Mac Pro. My theory in the indexing of the files is what takes so long.
I think the 2 to 1 drive capacity is a good suggestion.

Just passing a long information, the other thing to not have ProRes when you can get it for a few hundred buck with the Io is probably something you would regret down the road. There are a couple of things about the IoHD that make it the right choice and more “future proof”
But you have to admit that there are more blinky lights on the V3.

If there is no frame rate conversion you can just export to quicktime and change the settings to DV instead of current settings.

One other thing to think about is another product, if you really plan to stay in DVCProHD and that is the V3HD (https://www.v3hd.com/) it is similar to the IoHD but does not do ProRes.
Nothing is future proof, this will never to HD 4:4:4, never do uncompressed HD but capture cards and devices normally have a long life span. Most companies do not talk about the future so most of the time it is like yelling into the void.
But the real answers to you questions are being addressed in the AJA Io forum. Hope over there. As far as I know this and the V3 are the only options out there to capture HD to a laptop.

did you shoot with P2 and Firestore on the same cameras because the do 24P Native differently.
The camera is set to 24pN for p2 only, while the FS100 (v4) needs the camera set to 24p and the the FS100 is set to PN and removes the pull down as it records but the P2 cards we be recorded with the pull down. If the FS100 is set to PN the remove duplicate frames should be unchecked.
But I may not be understanding your workflow.

Also the new software version4 of the FS100 can in fact record true 24P
Camera is setup as 24P (NOT 24pN)
The Fs100 is the set up in P2 PN (or Quicktime PN) and it does the pull down removal on record. You get over 4 hours of record time of 720P@24P, comes right in to FCP as 23.98.
