Copy the mediafiles he captured into your mediafiles folder, open the bin(s) in your project and way you go.

Do a conquer and divide approach. Cut the timeline in half, then play, then again, and play till you find the piece or pieces that are corrupted. From there, do a “find clip” and recapture.

You are seeing a 30fps NDF timecode (if deck is set up correctly) with “A” frames falling on all timecodes ending in:
:00
:05
:10
:15
:20
:25
Set up your Film/24p setting to “A” relationship to 00:00:00:00 and you can capture on the fly.The START timecode column reflects the 30fps NDF timecode of the captured source. Highlight the entire START timecode column and do a command-D/ctrl-D and select TC24 from the pop up dialogue window and click OK. All 30fps timecode will be converted to 24fps based on the timecode/pulldown relationship of the first frame of each clip accurately reflecting the timecode of your HDCAM masters.

You need to be in a 23.976 project to get DNA. The camera only shoots 23.976fps with either Advanced or Normal pulldown. Create a new project that is NTSC 23.976 and you will be fine.

Two 17″ monitors will give you more overall real estate than a single 20″. And I prefer editing in a two screen mode as far as easier organisation and all.

Check out the Avid Knowledgebase for the color shift problem. This is an issue with the overlay of the graphics card and you can adjust the color via the Advanced settings of the card itself. Check the knowledgebase for the starting values that you can use.

If you want to fill a 16:9 screen with active picture, you need to do what’s called a tilt & scan process. Roughly a third of your image will be copped and the remaining 2/3rds stretched horizontally to fill the full height. You also need to decide which 2/3rds of the image to keep as I doubt just taking out the middle section will look good composition wise. Usually a common top moved down just a bit seems to work for most shots.
Use the pan & scan effect found in the reformat tool. Read the User Guide but you will setting source to 4:3 and target to 16:9. From there you can choose which portion of the frame to keep. Set the render to HQ, it will take a while, but you will want the highest quality image when projected.
Keeping the 4:3 square in the middle of a 16:9 screen will keep the highest quality image.

If your settings files are very customized then it will be easier to bring your over. If not, it may be faster to just create news ones under your name on that system.

You can create your own user settings on that system, or import yours from the other system. All you need to bring over from your system are the bins and the mediafiles. Copy bins in the project folder and move the media to the mediafile folder.

Are you saying it has worked to the camera as a digital cut? Seeing as the camera does not have deck control and characteristics… Can’t you just do an output directly from the timeline and a crash record on the camera?
