All that should be fine – Xpress Pro has the same database, and cut list tool that is used on all the major features – many features have been cut on Xpress Pro so you wouldn’t be the first. Just keep in mind that change lists are only for 23.976 and 24 frame based projects, not for 30i with matchback. The +/- 1 frame adjustments for the 24/30 conversions would be creating changes on every event.

I would do it for all the clips just to be safe and the the mathc is correct. when you do the “duplicate column” it will do it for all the clips in that column anyway.

You should check the TC 24 column since that is the one that does the proper count for a 24 frame EDL. You don’t need to manually enter values since there needs to be a 4/5 calculation based on pulldown relationship to the 30fps timecode in the START. Highlight the START column and do a cmd-D or ctrl-D depending on OS and a pop up menu will appear. Select TC 24 and the Avid will do the proper inverse telecine math to create the true 24fps timecode from the HD masters.
Then generate an EDL.

Are you in a NTSC 24p or 23.976 project, or are you in a 1080p/23.976 or 24p project. If in NTSC, the TC24 column has to have values in it for all the clips or it will come up empty as you are seeing. In 1080p projects, the START timecode is used.
And, are the missing timnecodes from imported clips or captured clips?

When you bring up the TC 24 column, are there values in there for every clip? That is the column that is used for 24 frame EDL – the START column is 30fps since that reflects the sources from which they came.

Interlace sources will always jitter when there is a freeze frame. It doesn’t happen in the Avid timeline because only 1 field is sent to the client monitor when stopped or paused.
Unless the sources are progressive and kept progressive all the way to DVD, there will always be jitter on a DVD freeze frame.

HD formats are always 16:9 which is why the project defaults to 16:9. If you want 4:3, then right click the source/record monitor and deselect 16:9.

Is the Camera logged in one of the columns or can it be assumed from the tape name? I use FilmScribe all the time to generate a TAB delimited file of metadata of interest then bring into Excel or FileMaker Pro to generate reports.
