Relink and “relink to selected” rely on having the same source and timecode. Since the source is in two different places, it cannot do it, even with a “relink to selected” Relink to selected works great in situations where you have two sets of the same media (offline and online for example) and you want to force the sequence to one set versus the other.
The ability to relink between SOURCE FILE (AMA) and Tape will be addressed in a future release.

You cannot relink via AMA to sources that are referenced via TAPE. When using REDCINE X to make dailies, it references the filename in the TAPE whereas AMA uses SOURCE FILE. You cannot relink/conform across two different fields. Once you start in REDCINE, finish with REDCINE. If you start in AMA, you can finish with AMA.

You can simply export an EDL into REDCINE X as a pull list, transcode only the events you need + handles to DNxHD of your choice. Import sources back into Media Composer, and “relink to selected.”

Recent dongles can move from PC to Mac as long as you are running the same version of the product. You can certainly open older versions of projects on newer versions of the application.
I do reserve the right to be wrong for older versions of Xpress Pro – there may have been differentiation at that time.

What codec are you using in Media Composer? Were you using AMA? These things will prevent you from using “same as source”. What type of codec do you want to create on the export? QuickTime is just a wrapper, so it can be H.264, JPEG, Animation, ProRes, etc.

Since there is no timecode on the tape, have you tried turning off the timecode track in the capture window and just capturing on the fly? For long captures, make sure your setting is set for anticipated length of capture (30 mins, 60 mins, etc).

I out an extra 2 x 2TB drives striped for speed for a total of 4TB in those slots.

Are the folders in the Avid MediaFiles/MXF folder? Are they numbered 1, 2, or have other names?

Actually…. if you really think hard enough, you see the finished piece in your head and there is no need to edit at all. 🙂
