    Hello All,

I’ve got a few old projects on a later Avid Xpress Pro 5.7 (PC laptop). I’m thinking of migrating the projects over to a MacPro. I noticed that my dongle say’s ‘PC’ so presumably that won’t work on the Mac.

Do I need a Mac Dongle? Will it be hell to get from Avid? What should I be looking out for in this process?

I know the most prudent thing would be to get Media Composer but finances prohibit that right now.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Recent dongles can move from PC to Mac as long as you are running the same version of the product. You can certainly open older versions of projects on newer versions of the application.

I do reserve the right to be wrong for older versions of Xpress Pro – there may have been differentiation at that time.

I agree with michael – if the same version of express is loaded on MAC then the Dongle does not care

Thanks Michael and Ricky for your help a few weeks back. I ended taking a short term approach and bought an older HP workstation instead.
