Take a look at TextWrangler, a powerful text editor with lots of tools for line breaks and such. But the issue really starts with non compliant CDL values in the ALE. I will let Blackmagic know.

It looks like your original CDL values as brought into the bin don’t meet the spec. Too many values after the decimal point. There was an issue with on on-set dailies system that was putting these values into the ALE causing the same problem. Which system created the values in the first place?

Media Composer only works at 16bit or 24bit. Is this what you are referring to? Are you embedding the essence with the AAF file, or are you linking to existing files?

Is the file locked? Do a get info on it and see if is.

This feature has been in for a while, but is not obvious:
Copy the text you want.
Highlight all the clips you want to be part of the past operation.
Move the cursor under the column you want the info paste into.
Cursor will change to a text edit type cursor.
Right click and select “Set for selected clips…”Where will be the name of the column you are pasting into.
Once selected, a little text box appears, paste (or type into it) and click OK.

The first question is what is in v5.5 that you feel you need to complete this project and can it wait till you’re between projects?
If not, projects can move forward, I was just reading on Facebook someone opened a project done in 1993 with a version 2 of Media Composer in a 2011 v5.5. Make sure your project is backed up in case you need to go back to v4, but for the most part, you should be fine moving forward. Is it possible for you to test on a different system?

Avid FilmScribe outputs XML for sequences as well as TAB delimited, and HTML. It can export one list per channel with lots-0-metadata. If using XML, it dumps all source and record info, custom and Avid standard.

There is no support for a LUT or color profile as a source side effect in Media Composer. Only native RED R3D editing allows for a “source settings” for color as the AMA plug-in goes through the SDK which does the work…
If you need to apply a LogC to REC709 LUT to sources, it needs to be done outside the application. – check out:

Or a Resolve Lite (free) to make QUickTime wrapped DNxHD via the QT codec (not native MXF wrapped DNxHD – that has a license fee attached).

You can trim past a subclip when not in a film project. In film projects, “hard” subclips are created in order to protect metadata that may change during the span of the original master clip (film to tape transfers for example).
