What are you using to grade? If you are using the broadcast safe to legalise the peak whites, it will not deliver after render. This is a known bug that has been discussed here for many years.

Audio is small data so there is no point in compressing it. Apart from degrading the audio, it will always need to be rendered back to PCM 48khz in FCP so export with that setting, preserve the quality and don’t worry about the small increase in file size.

I always put my SD footage into a 10 bit uncompressed sequence for final render. DVCpro50 is certainly better than plain DV but cheap fast drives these days means that 10 bit uncompressed is easily done and if it is just to render your final sequence, the final render file size shouldn’t be such an issue.
It certainly helps to make graphic elements and heavily grade manipulated footage looks as good as it SD can.
That said, ProRes is a better compressed alternative than any of the Dv flavours.

It may be a firewire issue with the IOHD or it may be just that old favourite, trashing preferences.
Presuming the camera and FCP settings are correct (it will be HDV 108050i or 60i depending on what the camera shot), it might be worth trying to repower with the IOHD disconnected, the camera on with a tape in and then launch FCP.

C.C. – I guess that you mean closed captioning and not color correction.
I am not surprised that a software down convert or using the Kona doesn’t carry the closed captioning. You might need to down convert tape to tape with a hardware converter that passes or reinserts the captioning correctly.

Firstly you need to render. Secondly you can only judge on an external interlaced monitor. Thirdly DV is not a good codec for graphics or any text with real edges.

In the captured footage bin, check the anamorphic column and make sure all the clips have a tick to indicate the anamorphic flag is correctly set.
If it is not set, select and tick. You should then be able to edit in the shots without it distorting. The shots that are already in the timeline probably have a distort setting like -33.3% (or is it +33.3%. You can change one to 0 and then paste that attribute to all the other distorted clips to correct.

There have been so many posts about FCP getting wav file speeds wrong, so I would get your sound post people to supply an aif file with the .1% slow down applied.
You can use Quicktime to do this as well and as it is a vari speed , there is no quality loss and a .1% pitch change is not detectable.
