    Hello

I have HDV 30F footage on shot on my canonXHA1, and I’m trying to capture it in Final Cut using the camera as the deck. I’ve tried what seems to be every set up that I can think of. (Also, the vtr menu on the Canon is set to HDV not auto.)

I am able to get the capture window to recognize the deck if I’m playing the footage manually, but all that comes across is the time code. I get no video or audio.

The system is version FCP 6.0.5 with an AJA IOHD connected.

I’ve opened a new project and made the capture presets HDV.

I have no idea what to try next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,

    Tom D.

It may be a firewire issue with the IOHD or it may be just that old favourite, trashing preferences.

Presuming the camera and FCP settings are correct (it will be HDV 108050i or 60i depending on what the camera shot), it might be worth trying to repower with the IOHD disconnected, the camera on with a tape in and then launch FCP.

Disconnecting the AJA breakout box seemed to do the trick. Thanks.
