This happens because of an incorrect registry entry for the AVX plug-ins folder. Below are the instructions to fix the issue. They are slightly different if you are on a 64 bit OS.

1.Go to Start: Run.
2.Type regedit in there.
3.Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AvidTechnology\AVX
Plug-ins.
4.Change the value of AVX2Directory from:
%ProgramFiles%\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins to:
C:\Program Files\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins

Or on a 64 bit OS

1.Go to Start: Run.
2.Type regedit in there.
3.Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Wow6432Node>
Avid Technology>AVX
4.Change the value of AVX2Directory from:
%ProgramFiles%\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins to:
C:\Program Files(x86)\Avid\AVX2_Plug-Ins

It probably won’t be until the next release.

It was briefly tested with the current release and no issues were found.

The driver will work just know that it is possible you could run into issue if you updated.

Are you seeing any colored bars on the timecode track in the timeline

System needs it yes but your login user name also needs it and needs to be set as the owner.

If you don’t see your login name you need to use the + button to add it.

Unfortunately, as of right now there is not ETA on when any of the other Boris products will be ready for CS5. They are being worked on but there is no timetable.

Sure you’re not saying anyone’s a but guy but relating me to the Watergate scandal implies it a bit, or at least I perceived it that way.

I can tell you this oversight was brought to the attention of those who could fix it as soon as Craig first brought it to our attention and it was discussed.

Removing myself from my situation I completely agree with the way you perceive it.

The line between perception and reality is often blurred though as we only have what we can see to form our opinions. I guess that lapse, oversight, or flaw in communication is where the problem(s) stem from. Especially with the technology we have today.

Can definitely sympathize with you on this one but there has to be some understanding of the complexity of porting a 32 bit application to 64 bits.

Granted it is frustrating but the resources Adobe has to allocate to such a task is far greater than any plug-in company is going to have. Boris included.

And Adobe isn’t going to delay their release because (plug 3rd party software vendor in here) doesn’t have the resources to keep up.

Like any other major software upgrade you need to do your homework, make sure 3rd party features will work, OS specs etc. Determine what will and will not work and decide if upgrading or waiting is right for you.
