I always monitor through a DV device. Mac>firewire>camera or deck>SVHS or componate into a monitor. Only thing that will monitor out the card are things like the Kona cards. Then it’s SDI and stuff.

    Hope this helps-

Not sure I understand the question. Every clip you select will remain selected till you de-select it or select another clip. Not sure what you mean by “auto-select”.

Wipe the startup drive and install everything from ground up. Don’t use the migration manager with a system that you need rock solid. It’s not worth the extra time and in the end you may have to.

Was the aspect ratio from AE in DV 3.2 or NTSC 3.4? Your timeline is most likely 3.2.

Need more info. What is your setup? Software versions and computer running it on. When do you get this alert? Is the project file locked or the media? If you have done this before, What has changed since you did it last?

    Hope this helps-

You may also try duplicating the clip to the layer above and making the one on top an “additive” mode. Then adjust opacity to re-expose the the clip.

    Hope this helps-

You will lose quality no matter which way you slice it on DVD. It is a crap format. Truly better than VHS but nothing like DV, HDV or uncompressed. It is a trade off of space on the disc vs. length of the video. Sounds like you made a system stream Mpeg-2 file on DVD. Computers will play them but I have yet to find a DVD set top box to do it.

Hopefully you have iDVD 6. It is set up for 16X9 and HDV. It is not the “best” quality Mpeg-2 but is where you most likely need to start. The thread above is right on. If you have DVD Studio Pro, more power to you. You really need DVDSP to get the maximum of what compressor can give.

[melander] “But it the QuickTime player is a default only it is still like an final cut project. I need to no how to fix this problem”

Not sure what you are saying, but dose it have to do with the icon? The default program that opens the file you created?

[melander] “I have changed my setting on my external hard drive to extended and this let me export to my hard drive but when I opened it up final cut will not read it?”

I think this means you have an HFS+ Extended formated external hard drive and that the file that is exported from FCP cannot be opened by any program?

Maybe tell us what you have tried to do to resolve your issues and a little more detailed explanation of the hardware setup and software installed.

    Hope this helps-

March 30, 2006 at 11:00 pm in reply to: CGM Page turn plug-in from FCP3?

Why not upgrade the plugins you had? Even if you get the plugin that works in FCP 5 it may not reconnect with the transitions you made. The plugin could have changed names or been gotten rid of in the suite of plugins. Do you know the name and version of this plugin? Maybe CGM has your original purchase on file. They would be the first stop.

    Hope this helps-
