I’ve had this happen but it was so long ago I can’t remember what I did. Have you tried doing one clip at a time? Have you tried doing a clip capture from one of the tapes just as a test? When the computer is “capturing” do you see the video on the computer screen? Just a little test to see if it is a FCP problem or a “system” i.e. the hardware connected to the computer, problem. Try different levels of capture. NOW, CLIP and then BATCH and see where it falls down. Do you capture from more and just DV? Such as a RS-422 for deck control or a Voodoo card for video. I’m sure you have check most, if not all of these. How about trashing Prefs? Hope this helps-

Dose it do this with all firewire hardware, ie decks, cameras and harddrives? Try various combos. Try various cables. Sounds like you have a wire crossed or a short somewhere. The ports on cameras and decks can go bad very quickly if you constantly plugging and unplugging the firewire. The four pin go bad before the six pin, in my experience. Hope this helps.

  • It could be that these clips were rendered and it is playing the render even though the master clip is offline. Drag the “offline” clip to the browser and if it is still off line in the browser,if so, then I would go to your “rendered” files and trash them. I assume that you didn’t want them to play anymore. Hope this helps-
