firewire crashes G5

Is this a known issue? or am I just having some wierd problem?

April 11, 2005 at 10:27 pmDose it do this with all firewire hardware, ie decks, cameras and harddrives? Try various combos. Try various cables. Sounds like you have a wire crossed or a short somewhere. The ports on cameras and decks can go bad very quickly if you constantly plugging and unplugging the firewire. The four pin go bad before the six pin, in my experience. Hope this helps.

April 12, 2005 at 2:10 amMake sure you’re not plugging in more than one A/V device at the same time. I used to crash my old G4 when I plugged in a Canopus ADVC100 and my Sony camera at the same time. It definately didn’t like both on the same bus at the same time.

April 12, 2005 at 3:34 amyou can add a card if you have a slot to give yourself extra firewire ports. not expensive and worth it.
