You say your planning to move to FCP, so that means you dislike something about the Media100 or you see posiblities with FCP. Could you define that for us so we can better help you. I’ve work with media100i for 7 years and the move to FCP was difficult at first but the work flow payoff was worth it. I have not worked on a 844X so I can’t speak to that but find a local FCP editor that has Media100 expierience and see the differences. Watch him/her in an edit if possible. Plus as has been mentioned before FCP may not be the right system for what you do.

Do you have other firewire devices to try (deck or other cameras)? Do you have an external hard drive with a different operating system? Start up from that, see how it effects things. Didn’t you install FCE 1.0.1 before or after FCE HD? Is this FCE 2 or the more recent FCE HD? Why not just load FCP on the laptop? If it’s working at the office, it should work on your laptop. Hopefully some of these suggestions might jog something.

Could be a lot of things. When you drop it on a timeline, is there a red line on the top of the video track? Do you hear beeping when you try to play it? Then FCP needs to render the audio. If this is the case use one of the easy set-ups for FCP next time you digitize, make sure it is for the “non-controlable device”. Is it dead silent? If you can hear a very faint sound it maybe that your audio is 180 degrees out of phase. They end up cancelling each other out. Delete one track of audio and pan the remaining to the center. How about your audio levels? Do they read anything? Will it play in the veiwer and not in the time line? Timeline settings could be off. Get info on the file in Quicktime, what dose it say? DV NTSC 720X480 Video 29.97 fps 16 bit 48kHz audio? What is your audio output set to in FCP? Firewire port? Audio out? These are just some options, but without more info it could be anything.
Hope this helps-

Is it just text, or do they have problems with graphics and stills too. Dose static text look good or just when it moves? The FCP title has always been crap, in my experience, for serious titling. I’ve had plugin conflicts that cause strange things to happen. Remove all but the base set and see if that helps, I hope this suggestion dose.
Hope this helps-

Your right! It is interlace lines that cause this effect. Depending on the resolution of your picture you will have to, gulp, blur your picture to stop this effect. Try differing amounts of blur to get the right combination. If it is just one area try Photoshop and blur just that area.

I never taken MV2 files in but if I had to I would transcode in QT Pro to the codec you use and then import the transcoded video.

Ok, Chapter marks not translating. Open your Quicktime reference movie or Self-contained movie you exported from FCP in Quicktime Pro. If you see the chapter marks in the Quicktime interface (as a popup) you have something wrong with your iDVD. Trash iDVD prefs and if that doesn’t work, try reinstalling iDVD. If you don’t see the chapters in Quicktime then the markers are not in the timeline but imbedded in the clip. Are the markers green? In the dialog box for the markers, Do they have the < > marks around the text chapter? Chapter marks can only be output from the timeline! Hope this helps-
