Which codec is it? Can you see the video from the AVI? If not I always convert AVI to MOV in Quicktime pro OS9 (there is no OSX plugin for AVI) to DV and then everything is peachy.

Do you know how to set a keyframe? If you don’t, you really need to read your manual or go to the help menu. If you do know how to set keyframes, then I’m not sure what you are asking.

    Hope this helps-

I’m trying to sell our Media100i XS 7.0.1 (P6000DV) and I have the same problem. For the person that wants to upgrade, buying an older system on the cheap and updating it seems to be a great way to get the latest hardware at less cost. The only problem is no one seem to want to do that. I’ve been trying for a year and no one has even said they were interested. I’m about ready to toss it in the dumpster.

    Hope this helps-

Have you repaired permissions? Booting from the install DVD and repairing is crucial! Are you on a network? If so disconnect. Did you use the easy setups? That one check box that is forgotten can be the bane of your existence. Have you limited your length of capture? It may be trying to hard to allocate space for video. Have you tested with iMovie? To make sure there is no hardware or cabling issues. Have you prayed hard? Kidding.

    Hope this helps-

It looks like a little bar chart at the bottom left of your timeline window. 4 different sizes. Click on the one that suits you best.

  • What is the object of exporting these files? I don’t understand this workflow with your client. Is this just for content review? If the client wants High quality review copy, just burn them a DVD. You said they are going to DVD, Are you creating this final DVD? Is a third party, and not your direct client that will be making this DVD from the files you produce. You could give them finished Mpeg2 files on a DVD-ROM. Transcoding into some codec that a PC can read without Quicktime and then transcoded back to Mpeg2 for DVD is pointless.

  • Well, DV is just a Codec. A way to “encode and decode” (shortened to codec) a visual image. Depending on whom you are delivering this video to, and for what purpose will determine what codec you need to output to. First we need a little more information. Computer specs help but mainly what software versions you are using (FCP, Quicktime etc.) This determines some limits to what your able to do with your current system.

Why rock the boat! If you don’t need the any of the new features why would consider risking a meltdown. OS install failure can happen with ANY update and are never lite fair. I make money with my machine as do most here. Pick a strategic time for the upgrade and know what you gain before taking the risks involved. my 2 cents-

As long as they have alpha channels you can directly import (under edit “place”) and composite them. When you do a save as, LiveType will reference the same files over and over. No need to make them one video clip, it leaves your options open for adding or subtracting elements later without re-compressing again. The .ipr LiveType file will render in your FCP time line, no need to render out of LiveType.
