I figure that I won’t zoom more than 1/4 into a picture. Would then an appropriate picture size for me be 2400 x 1350 if this is the case? Thanks

Another related question Mike if you don’t mind. How do I adjust the transition times between the photos for the entire group? I would like to keep them all the same. Thanks

Thanks Mike for the help. I just got done resizing the picture montage and it worked great. 2 full songs to the project and all of the pictures are just the right length.

Irfanview does a good job at resizing the pictures. I was surprised when the overall size of the file was significantly much smaller. I found that Irfanview set the JPEG quality at 80 out of 100. In their FAQ, they mention that this would be about right for most people. A 4.5 MB file went all the way down to 500 KB. When I set the JPEQ quality at 100, the file size became much larger. I opened each picture (80 vs. 100 setting in quality), viewed, and zoomed in on them. There was a difference but only noticeable at significantly zooming in. I would not be doing so with the pan/crop tool. So, the question is: Is it easier for Vegas to work with the smaller files i.e. 500 KB as opposed to 4.5 MB given the same pixel sizes for both images or does this aspect not affect introducing possible artifact into the final project? Thanks

How do you have a TEMP folder on both D and E drives? Isn’t there just one TEMP folder? Also, if one is not getting errors, is it preferable to make this change? I also have multiple drives but have not made this change, however it would be easy to do so. Thanks

Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the program? If you are still stuck you should go thru a clean uninstall. Here is the info off of the Sony Knowledgebase site:
———————————————–
Before doing a Clean Reinstall, it is important to do the following:•All audio and video effects chains and presets will be erased, so if you need to make a back up of your presets please download our Preset Manager program. For more information about backing up presets: Backup and Restore Audio Presets | Backup and Restore Video Presets
•Safely disconnect any external USB or Firewire devices like hard-drives or dongles.
•Temporarily turn off ALL anti-virus programs, as well as disabling any Registry Blockers, Spy Ware, Firewalls, etc. These applications have been known to interfere with software installation and registration.
Start the process of removing programs go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features – find and remove your Sony Creative Software applications (ACID, Sound Forge, Vegas, DVD Architect, Cinescore, CD Architect or Media Manager, as well as any other Sony Media Software or Sony Creative Software programs).
Also, remove the Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR), any and all Microsoft .NET Framework versions, and the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable software if it is listed.
Once un-installed, delete the following folders:
•C:\Program Files\Sony\
(Do not delete this entire folder if you have other Sony applications installed such as Sonic Stage, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, etc. If that is the case then only delete the folder for the Sony Creative Software application you are using as well as the Shared Plug-Ins folder.)•C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\
(Do not delete this entire folder if you have other Sony applications installed such as Sonic Stage, Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, etc. If that is the case then only delete the folder for the Sony Creative Software application you are using as well as the Shared Plug-Ins folder.)•C:\Program Files\Sony Setup
WARNING: The next step will require you to delete Windows Registry Keys. The Registry is a very sensitive area to work in. If you are not comfortable with advanced configuration and system changes, ask an administrator to help you with this. (Related Topics: How to back up and restore the registry in Windows: https:////windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/back-up-the-registry)Next, open the Registry Editor. Select Start and type REGEDIT in the ‘Start Search’ box.
In the Registry Editor, locate and delete the following registry entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software32 bit applications (like ACID and DVD Architect) installed in 64 Bit Windows 7 will also store registry keys in a different location. Locate the following registry keys and delete them. (Depending on which versions you have installed you may see one or more of these entries. If you do not see all of these, that is normal. Delete those which you do find.)
If you locate a folder labelled “Sonic” please DO NOT confuse this with Sonic Foundry. Leave it alone.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wow6432Node\Sony Media SoftwareHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Creative Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sony Media SoftwareClose the Registry Editor.
After removing all of the previous items, you may download and re-install from this link –

When finished with all reinstallation, please restart your computer. When your computer has restarted, you will have a complete clean installation.

I hope this is of some use. I have used this method when I ran into some problems in the past and it worked out fine.

Just had a chance to work with some JPEG files today with 9.0d 64-bit and all is going well. So far, I am happy with this version.

I had noticed some stability issues with Vegas Pro 9.0c with the 64-bit version. I was not having any difficulties with the 32-bit version. After I recently saw that 9.0d came out, I gave the 64-bit version a try agaion. I am glad to say that the previously seen artifacts seem to be resolved. I will keep using the 64-bit version of 9.0d for the time being.

April 25, 2010 at 2:39 am in reply to: Why footage has different colors when displayed by different software?Jan, please let us know what you end up finding out. I have used an Eye-One Display 2 to calibrate several of my televisions. This has worked great. I have been considering calibrating my computer monitor as well. It doesn’t look like it should be that hard to adjust the greyscale, gamma, and color balance and create a new color profile.

I have my OS and program files on a 160GB Intel G2 SSD. I have one magnetic HD for data (video, pictures, music, files), one for backups, and one for raw video clips which I work from and render from. I am considering upgrading my storage in the near future. I may end up going with a small (approx 30GB) SSD for the main video working drive. I may also upgrade the data drive to a larger capacity SSD in the future. For a home enthusiast user this has been working really well so for. I mainly am just taking videos of family trips, and children’s sporting events such as wrestling and hockey.
