Roger, this is indeed interesting. The information that populates these fields is already stored on your computer from prior registrations of software with Sony. The info is stored in your system’s registry. I suspect that if you did a search of your registry you would find this individual’s information lurking there. The main question is how in the world did it get there? I think that some additional investigation should definitely occur. It makes me a little concerned for my own system security when I see this kind of thing happening with software that I also own. If this happened to me I would be quite unhappy. Please let us know what you find out.

October 14, 2010 at 3:02 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 10 GPU ..What, where, when….No Way!Look again at the comparison. The first computer does have a Nvidea card GTS 250 which has 128 Cuda Cores. The second computer that has an ATI card blows the first one away.

This is a good question. I am in the similar situation in that I would like to cut out a couple of minutes of dance routine from my daughter’s dance recital video. I had the pleasure of being in the parent dance. Some of the available programs like the one mentioned are a bit costly. What do you think about DVD Knife which is a free program? It extracts clips to VOB format. The clip could then be converted and later edited in Sony Vegas.

Does anyone have any thoughts regarding this question? Thanks.

We appreciate your insights Stephen. So, it sounds then that the only thing that VBR can buy you is disk space. I also wonder, like the OP, if there are any situations that VBR would be expected to offer improved quality. It sounds as if Mike Kujbida may use VBR 2-pass if there is video of marginal quality.
Since all of my videos are shorter (less than 30 minutes), I render CBR 8,000,000. I also set quality to ‘best’ in properties. Given my project length and computer specs, I haven’t seen much difference in rendering times.
Mike, I think that there are some other good questions in the original post that I would be interested in as well. Thanks.

Thanks for the responses. I did end up resizing the photos but it was for the HD version of the video. So, this all makes much better sense now. So, if I shot the video using the SD mode on the camera, would the SD video portion render look better?
All in all, I am still quite impressed with the overall quality of the video.
I initially ended up adding sharpen-light fx to the videos which I think made them overall look better. I guess that I will put up with the artifacts as seen. Thanks

I would like to thank you John for that response as well. I had just this exact question and Ray just happend to beat me to it.
John, it looks like you have a great system. I don’t know what else you could do. As Vegas is mostly CPU dependent, I suppose the new 6 core processor might be of benefit. I have yet to see how anyone with this processor is fairing. I have the QX 9770 and it seems that I am having the same issues as you are.

I suppose you could try a clean uninstall. This removes all traces of the program including the registry. I’ve done this in the past and it’s really not that hard. You can look at Sony’s knowledge base articles for how to do this. This info is also available on this forum as well.

“you should find a tool that can rename them like filename000, filename001, filename002 etc.”
Of course this tool would be nice. A little more help would be appreciated. Would you mind letting me know what this tool might be?
